Westboro Baptist Church (WBC), best known for its open hatred of homosexuals and Jews, has made American evangelist Billy Graham its latest target.

Members of the Kanas-based ‘church’ travelled to North Carolina to confront the prominent Bible teacher, accusing him of being the “lying whore false prophet”. They even claimed his late wife Ruth is in hell and that he will join her there.

According to WBC, Dr Graham should be using his position to tell the world “that it's not okay to be a fag, it's not okay to divorce and remarry, it's not okay to fornicate, it's not okay to kill your babies”.

The group described the Billy Graham Library as “a den of thieves”.

“It's not about preaching the gospel of Christ. It's about how much money you can connive the gullible people who come through there into spending. How much will they spend at the snack bar? How many children can you lead to Satan through Bessie the talking cow? How many books can you sell? For shame!” 

A statement read out by TV station WBTV said: "The central message of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association today is the same message Dr Graham has faithfully preached for more than 70 years.

“It's a message of God's love for all people and the hope that only comes through a relationship with Jesus Christ.”
